Pure Religion – Relief for the Philippines Typhoon Victims

If you’ve been anywhere in earshot of the news this week you’ve already heard of the thousands who have died, the tens of thousands injured, and the hundreds of thousands who have lost their homes and livelihoods. The massive devastation is heartbreaking. If there is anything I’ve learned writing for Bible or Not over the years, it’s that our readers are people who care about helping others. And regardless of your religious persuasion, when you help the orphans and widows, that’s what the Bible calls pure religion.

Jesus a Wise Man, If It Be Lawful to Call Him a Man

I was doing some light reading (not) and came upon today’s quote about Jesus. When we read the Bible we are reading third person accounts of Jesus, in other words, we are reading what others have written about Him. So what is written of Him is entirely dependent upon the perspective of the writer.

“Now there was about this time Jesus, a wise man, if it be lawful to call him a man.” – Bible or Not?

This description of Jesus sounds like one of those third-party references to Him we may find in the Bible, but is it from the Bible or Not?

Favorite Scriptures of Super Bowl Players

The Super Bowl is upon us once again, so how does that relate to the Bible? While watching the playoffs and some of the pre-bowl coverage this week, I couldn’t help but notice quite a few players quoting scriptures as encouragement and confirmation that God cares. (Does God really care about football?). The most outspoken of the group has been the Raven’s Ray Lewis, but others who will be taking the field this Sunday have tossed out a few of their own.
