Blessed Are Those Who Can Give Without Remembering and Take Without Forgetting

Today’s Bible or Not quote is about being blessed through giving, it’s a beatitude, but is it from the Bible?

Blessed are those who can give without remembering and take without forgetting. – Bible or Not?

Here are the Beatitudes from The Sermon on the Mount, see if today’s quote fits in.

Blessed are the poor in spirit, For theirs is the kingdom of heaven.

Blessed are those who mourn, For they shall be comforted.

Blessed are the meek, For they shall inherit the earth.

Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, For they shall be filled.

Blessed are the merciful, For they shall obtain mercy.

Blessed are the pure in heart, For they shall see God.

Blessed are the peacemakers, For they shall be called sons of God.

Blessed are those who are persecuted for righteousness’ sake, For theirs is the kingdom of heaven.

Blessed are you when they revile and persecute you, and say all kinds of evil against you falsely for My sake. Rejoice and be exceedingly glad, for great is your reward in heaven, for so they persecuted the prophets who were before you.

Which brings us back to our quote of the day: “Blessed are those who can give without remembering and take without forgetting”. This quote is not very famous, although inspirational, and is not in the Bible either. It was spoken by Princess Elizabeth Bibesco (February 26, 1897 – April 7, 1945), an English Writer who married a Romanian prince.

So, today, give of yourself and then quickly forget about it. And if someone gives something to you, always be thankful and never forget it. This is sage advice.

  1. Dominic Scala, my wife’s grandfather had a version of this that my mother-in-law used to say all the time. “Do good and forget, do bad and remember.” …not about giving, necessarily, but certainly in the same vein.
