It was 70 years ago today, a day that went down in “infamy” – yes, December 7, 1941. It is only appropriate to remind us of our resolve as a nation, under God, with a quote from then President Franklin D. Roosevelt.
“With confidence in our armed forces, with the unbounding determination of our people,- we will gain the inevitable triumph – so help us God.” – Franklin D. Roosevelt
This FDR quote was pulled from his famous “infamy” Pearl Harbor Speech given December 8, 1941. Today, let’s remember a time when we were united as a nation with a common just cause, under the banner of God. Let’s remember those who have lost their lives and livelihoods defending this great nation of America. Let’s also remember, that always, it’s God that gives the victory.

Life can be hard, and sometimes as Christians we think it shouldn’t be so. I am sure we all have prayed for relief from the struggle and for things to make life easier. But perhaps that’s not what God has in mind. I believe our 35th president understood this principle.
“Do not pray for easy lives. Pray to be stronger men.” – John F. Kennedy
Whether we like it or not, and I don’t think I’ve met anyone who really likes it, God uses hardship and struggle to shape us according to His plan, not ours. So the advice of John F. Kennedy is very apropos. Let’s see what the Bible says.
