It is a Wise Father that Knows His Own Child

Happy Fathers Day ImageToday is another Father’s Day, seems like we just celebrated last year’s – how the time goes by fast. That’s the subject of today’s Bible or Not post. It has been said that it is a wise father who knows his own children, and I would agree with that. But what does that have to do with the time going by fast?

“It is a wise father that knows his own child.” – William Shakespeare, The Merchant of Venice

The relationship between father and child is one that can easily be taken for granted. As you raise your children you might spend time with them, but much of that time is in the daily hustle and bustle and making a living, running around, teaching and disciplining, and the like. And before you know it they are grown up and out of the house.

On this Father’s Day let’s spend the time to get to know our children better, but let’s not stop there. Even in the times of our busy days, the good days and the bad days, we can take the time, however little it may seem, to know them better each day. And while we’re at it, perhaps we should let them know us a little better as well. Happy Father’s Day!

  1. Totally agree. Life passes by so quickly. Our family time is precious. We as parents do our best to raise our children in the ways of the Lord. We do our best to teach them right from wrong and my comfort is knowing our children are under the direction of Jesus. He loves our children. When they leave home He directs them. So happy fathers day too all u dads. Enjoy your time with ur children while they are home. Our son is in the army and I know his dad is missing him today. God bless

  2. My Daddy was an excellent artist! He lived at ii West Walnut Lane. Philadelfia, PA. I visited him often. He was in Navy! He never forgot a face! He’s from Rocky Ford, CO. He took my and my younger ; brother to Beach Haven, NJ. We could swim. He made sand castles for us with the sand! It was a wonderful vacation! He studied at the University of north Illinois. He and my older brother are in Heaven. He and my Mum separated in Reno, Nevada. She’s in Heaven. May they all rest in peace.
