Magnify Him with Thanksgiving

In observance of this Thanksgiving Day holiday, today’s quotes are all Bible verses… except one. Can you tell which thanksgiving quote is not from the Bible? Today, and everyday, we should step back for a moment and review all of the reasons we have to be thankful, and then give thanks to the One who is due our thanks.

I will praise the name of God with a song, and will magnify him with thanksgiving.

Therefore I will give thanks unto thee, O LORD, among the heathen, and I will sing praises unto thy name.

Now therefore, our God, we thank thee, and praise thy glorious name.

And at the dedication of the wall of Jerusalem they sought the Levites out of all their places, to bring them to Jerusalem, to keep the dedication with gladness, both with thanksgivings, and with singing, with cymbals, psalteries, and with harps.

Enter into His gates with thanksgiving, and into His courts with praise. Be thankful to Him, and bless His name.

God has two dwellings; one in heaven, and the other in a meek and thankful heart.

But thanks be to God, which giveth us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.

Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God.

And let the peace of God rule in your hearts, to the which also ye are called in one body; and be ye thankful.

In every thing give thanks: for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you.

For every creature of God is good, and nothing to be refused, if it be received with thanksgiving.

Saying, Amen: Blessing, and glory, and wisdom, and thanksgiving, and honour, and power, and might, be unto our God for ever and ever. Amen.

Magnify Him with Thanksgiving — 4 Comments

  1. Ding ding ding! Yes the quote “God has two dwellings; one in heaven, and the other in a meek and thankful heart” is not in the Bible. It was coined by Izaak Walton who was an English writer and known as the author of The Compleat Angler – yeah he liked to fish. He also wrote a number of short biographies, compiling the information for his books while fishing with his subjects, which have been collected under the title of Walton’s Lives.

  2. funny, I was just going through this and thought to comment that the 2 dwellings one was the NOT phrase, and saw that I already did! May God continue to bless you with this blog. Especially for people like me today, it has a special power to keep me connected to Him and those who love His Word.
