The House Does Not Rest Upon the Ground, But Upon a Woman

In the Bible, wisdom is portrayed as a woman. In the Book of Proverbs it says, “Say unto wisdom, Thou art my sister; and call understanding thy kinswoman” (Proverbs 7:4 KJV). Furthermore it says in Proverbs 24:3, “Through wisdom is an house builded; and by understanding it is established.” So logically, if the house is built upon wisdom, and wisdom is a woman, then couldn’t today’s quote be Biblical?

“The house does not rest upon the ground, but upon a woman.” – Mexican Proverb

We see that this quote is not from the Bible, but it does underscore how important the role of women is. A house, i.e. the home in which a family is raised, can either stand or fall by the woman who runs that house. And if that woman stands on the Rock of Jesus, so too then does that house.

What are your thoughts? Do you agree with this or is it a stretch?

The House Does Not Rest Upon the Ground, But Upon a Woman — 7 Comments

  1. Agreed. The women’s role in the household is vitally important. She can set an environment of peace and harmony in her household. But to have a household that is united serving the Lord. Husband and wife together is an added blessing. Great topic!

  2. I Stand on The Rock of Jesus So Why Has Is My Family Home Falling Apart Now That Our Defiant, Angry Son Left Days Before His 18th Birthday, Has Not Communicated With Us At All & Did Not Come Back Home For Christmas?

  3. So sorry to hear about the troubles in your family Mary. I wish I could give you the reason why, but there are times in our lives where nothing makes sense. Many of us have been there, we are doing everything we know how to do in faith and service to God, yet we find ourselves in dire circumstances. Although we might not have the answer today, we have faith that we will know in time – please don’t forget that all things work together for good for those that love God – it doesn’t feel like it now, but God is faithful and He will see you through.

I will pray for you and your family, and I also invite anyone reading these comments to do the same. May God bless you and see you through this troubled time.

  4. This mexican wisdom has nothing to do with the rock of Jesus, it underscores, the usually insufficiently appreciated commitment of women to her loved ones

  5. No more truer statement .. especially for this generation … the last time the call was for men to bring a change to the world … this time it seems the call goes out to women to bring that change through Positive Love and Spiritual Wisdom..

I’ve often considered that men consciousness began in neuron patterns of the mind which makes it‘s journey to link with the heart .. as to then establish the full consciousness of mind, heart and soul in order to establish OR re-establish oneness with their GOD … yet I consider that the woman consciousness began in the neuron pattern of the heart, making it’s journey to the mind as to re-establish their balance unto full consciousness of mind, heart and soul in which their oneness establishes OR re-establishes their link with the CREATOR …

In this manner women were intended to be co-creators in the cosmos … and men intended to be co-guardians of creations …
