For those more familiar with the King James Version of the Bible you have likely heard it said that we must be “instant in season and out of season”. The idea is that we must be ready, be prepared, for any circumstance at any time. Here is the full verse in context:
“Preach the word! Be ready in season and out of season. Convince, rebuke, exhort, with all longsuffering and teaching.” – 2 Timothy 4:2 NKVJ
Regardless of the Bible version you prefer, the point is the same: always be prepared to minister and speak the Word of God, whether it’s a good or convenient time or not.
Be instant in season, out of season. – King James Version
Be prepared in season and out of season. – New International Version
Be ready in season and out of season. – New King James Version
Be prepared, whether the time is favorable or not. – New Living Translation
The Bible teaches us to be prepared, for opportunities to minister, to help and teach, to testify of the things of God. As a matter of fact, our entire life is a time to prepare to meet God.
We don’t know what tomorrow will bring, but we can use the time we have today to prepare. Be instant, always ready, and prepared to stand up for Jesus, whether the time is favorable (in season) or not (out of season).
