Whatsoever You Do to the Least of These You Do Unto Me

With the earthquake tragedy this week in Haiti there has been an outpouring of support to the Haitian people. In times like these we see people from all faiths and countries not only praying for the victims but sending in financial, material, food, people and other types of aid to Haiti.

It reminds me of a proverb about a king and his subjects on the lesson of charity. Where can this quote be found?

“And the king will answer and say to them, ‘Assuredly, I say to you, inasmuch as you did it to one of the least of these my brethren, you did it to me.’”

As Christians we need to not only be charitable during times of extreme tradegy for those around us, but we should remember to be this way in our daily lives. What do you think?

  1. Yes, this is in the Bible. I totally agree that we need to help those in need, and yes, I believe the Bible in saying that when we help others, it’s like we are doing it for Jesus.

  2. Why then are we trying to help those that have the most by not returning tax rates to their previous levels? And in essence punishing the majority and those that have the least for the brnrfit of a few. It just does not make sense.
