Yesterday much of the country spent the evening watching the Super Bowl, and what a game it was. It’s interesting the role that faith has played in this NFL season. Yeah, everyone was talking about Tim Tebow (Does God Takes Sides in Football?) but I was surprised to learn that the NY Giant’s run to the Super Bowl, and their ‘All In’ credo, started at a chapel service prior to their Christmas Eve game against the NY Jets. You can read the story about that chapel service and how those team members who were in attendance were challenged and inspired.
Today’s post though is not about the Giant’s All In credo, it’s about Jesus’ All In credo…
The first time I saw Jackie Evancho sing, my reaction was probably the same as the rest of the else’s. First, that she was a little angel sent from heaven, and then second, that it could not be real. But she is for real, and once again we can see the hand of God alive in the world. And then we hear the message that young Jackie is delivering with her beautiful voice, and we have to praise God again. Yes, from the mouth of Jackie Evancho praise is perfected, which brings us to today’s Bible or Not quote.
“Out of the mouth of babes and nursing infants you have perfected praise.” – Bible or Not?
See the video and full lyrics for “To Believe” by Jackie Evancho. I challenge you to watch the whole video with getting misty-eyed…
Before last night I would have never even considered asking this question. I’ll leave it up to you to answer it. Tim Tebow and the Denver Broncos were more than an 8 point underdog against the Pittsburgh Steelers in yesterday’s NFL AFC playoff game. Considering the Bronco’s past poor offensive performance with Tebow’s poor passing statistics, and the fact that the Steelers were the top-ranked NFL defense, it made sense. Everyone seemed to agree that the idea of the Broncos winning this game would be nothing short of a miracle.
Tebow and the Denver Broncos won on the first play in overtime setting an NFL record, quite miraculous. Then take a look at Tebow’s passing stats from yesterday’s game, and you make the call whether God takes sides in a football game. Today’s Bible verse is a hint.
“For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.” – John 3:16 NKJV
